THE HISTORY Dating back to Florence in 1919, the Negroni cocktail is said to have been created by Fosco Scarselli in his bar, Café Casoni, after the renowned Count Camilo Negroni asked him to strengthen his favourite cocktail – the Americano – by replacing soda water with a splash of gin. Scarselli added an orange slice as garnish, rather than the usual lemon twist, and from this moment on, the Negroni was born.
OUR STORY Dating back to the summer of 2023 in Portofino. The fishermans village, crystal-clear sea, custodian to a promontory that is one of world heritage treasures, inhabited by down to earth people with a talent for beauty. After a refreshing boat trip with the instant classic Giorgio Mussini Utility, accompanied by a gentle breeze, a refreshing cocktail with the usual orange twist was served, from this moment on, the Yacht Club Negroni was born.
The Quaglia Destillery has a very ancient tradition that is based on an inestimable heritage of recipes, secrets and precious knowledge that have been handed down for four generations while maintaining their value intact. We use the past as an inspiration to tell the richness of what the territory offers us and we make it become a guarantee of the highest quality and authenticity. Time is our secret ingredient: the liqueur must mature, it must grow, it must evolve.
SERVING TIPS Your Yacht Club Negroni is almost ready to go. We recommend using one big ice cube (the cool square or spherical ones you'll often see at cocktail bars) or three to four draft-sized ice cubesready to go, grab an orange/lemon peel for garnish. First, you'll want to "express" (aka twist) the peel over the glass, to release oils into the drink. Then, place it in the Negroni standing up so that the outer side, or orange side, of the peel is facing you. This will create the most aromatic drinking experience. Enjoy!
